Stay on Acrobat if…

You live in any of these.

  • Tax / legal forms (AcroForm or XFA). Acrobat invented these; we'll have parity in our Business tier, but not this quarter.
  • PDF/UA accessibility tagging. Adding structure trees, alt text, reading order — same answer: Business-tier roadmap.
  • Print pre-flight + ICC colour management. Niche but load-bearing for design / publishing shops. Probably not on our roadmap before Year 3.
  • Adobe Sign workflow with downstream legal partners. The signature standard is the network, not the software; you don't move it solo.

Switch to Pditor if…

Any one of these is you.

  • You merge / split / compress / convert PDFs weekly and Acrobat's monthly fee feels disproportionate.
  • You use AI on documents (summarize, translate, rewrite) and don't want to pay another $4.99 for the privilege.
  • You bounce between machines — laptop, work, library terminal — and don't want to install a 1 GB app each time.
  • You care about your files not living in someone else's cloud forever by default.
  • You're a developer who wants a clean REST API (closed-beta now; public soon) instead of Acrobat PDF Services pricing.

Methodology

How we put these numbers together.

  • · Pricing pulled from each vendor's public site, May 2026. Acrobat Pro Individual price (US): $19.99 / mo. AI Assistant: +$4.99 / mo.
  • · Lighthouse mobile scores from PageSpeed Insights against the each vendor's /merge-pdf or equivalent landing page.
  • · Compress benchmark: median of 10 mixed-content PDF fixtures, measured wall-clock end-to-end.
  • · "Cold start" measured from icon-click (Acrobat) or address-bar Enter (Pditor) to the file being ready to edit.
  • · Rows marked "Not yet" are explicitly planned for our Business / Enterprise tier; see the roadmap in our public implementation plan.
